A couple things guys. The proposal calls for NO doe hunting (bow or Muzzle) in the NE kingdom, D2 & E, so you don't need to worry about that.

Sherb, I don't get your point. The added doe permits are going to muzzle loader season. Are you saying you think they should use them durring rifle too? That would end up meaning probably less oppertunity for hunters to get a tag. Rifle hunters would be far more succesful at killing does than smoke polers or archers, so they would give out far fewer tags. I do agree that if they really want to thin the herd in some areas a rifle is the way to go. Don't forget any change in the seasons would have to go through the legislature. You think people are howling now about doe hunting, just try and get that proposal to pass!!!!

On another note I went to the Ruland meeting. Not many showed, 50-60. People spoke out on both sides. Morrissey came up and tried to complain for the people in the Bennington area. A few foresters came and tried to get people to understand the importance of carrying capasity.

The bottom line was that the F&W really seemed to have all their ducks in a row and showed how many of the indicators they use all point to them really needing to do something here in the western side of the state. They also showed that the opposite was true in the NE Kingdom. They showed that the state is very diverse in deer #s due to winters and habitat and the doe tag propasals reflect this. They really do their due diligence and do not paint the state with a broad brush as some try to say. They realize the WMU's are not perfect but at least they are trying to do something to please most hunters and still lookout for the wildlife and habitat. Laroche got all statements on tape. Great job by Laroche and Haskel!
