Carl, the Lyndonville meeting was attended by about half the FWB members (most of the others were going to the Rutland meeting). I did not really hear anything new - we heard some folks say there are too many deer now - we heard some say there are still plenty of areas with too few. We heard from some how the WMU's are too big and too diverse to manage as one area (a fact the FWB and the FWD agrees with but is very difficult to change). We heard some people who questioned the counting of road kills as a factor in determining herd density. There was testimony that the bow hunters seem to have a big advantage for harvest oppportunities (two vs. one for others without doe tags). I think that about sums up the testimony. There were approx 30 people who attended and about 8 - 10 who provided comments. I did not take copious notes but the testimony was recorded and the FWB will receive summaries of all testimony as is the usual process. I did not go to Rutland last night so I cannot say anything about that meeting. The next board meeting will be Wed July 9 in Waterbury and we expect to have the second vote on the deer rule. This is the process and the second vote is fair to describe as the most critical. The rule then goes to a legislative committee for their approval and the back to the FWB for the third vote. Ed
