The Municipal Building Recreation
Center for Adults, Families, Youth and Teens will operate on the following
schedule: (times and events may be subject to change for special events, bad
weather, or other program changes).
SPRING SCHEDULE
CAL RIPKEN SPRING BASEBALL LEAGUES- Tee Ball, Minor & Majors and Softball Registrations will be taken Friday March 30 6-8pm Newport Elementary School and Sat. March 31st 8-11am at Newport Municipal Building for Newport City residents. Contact Gary Rowe at 334-1592. Derby, Charleston, Holland, Morgan and Island Pond residents can call Bob DeRoehn at 766-4710 to register.
WINTER SCHEDULE
MONDAYS: 6-9:30pm Men's 4v4
Basketball League- Contact
Brian at the Rec office to register, $150.00 per
team.
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAYS: 6-8:30pm Supervised Open Gym for Pickup Basketball Games & Balcony Games (including Ping Pong, Foosball, Air Hockey, Arcade Games, Cable TV& Snacks for purchase. Drop In Fee or Pass Required.
FRIDAYS: Kids Night Out 4-6th grades $2.00 7-9pm (see write-ups for dates)
Youth Dances 6-8th grades $3.50 7-9pm (see write-ups for dates)
Teen Dances 9-12th grades $4.00 7:30-10:00pm (see write-ups for dates)
SATURDAYS: 1-2pm Mighty Mites Gym Soccer League-Boys & girls ages 5-7
SATURDAYS: 2-3pm Juniors Gym Soccer League-Boys & girls ages 8-10
SATURDAYS: 3-4pm Open Gym 18 & under. Shoot around and/or have pickup games, meet new friends. Families welcome. Drop In Fee or Pass Required.
SATURDAYS: 4-6pm Adult Open Gym or Pickup Volleyball Games- Call the Rec.office 334-6345 if interested in the Volleyball. Drop In Fee or Pass Required.
SUNDAYS: 1-2pm Womens’ Volleyball League- A five week program for women
SUNDAYS: 3-4pm Teens’ Volleyball League-
SUNDAYS: 6-8:30pm Open Gym for Pickup Basketball Games & Balcony Games-Drop In Fee or Pass Required.

It is the purpose of the Newport Parks & Recreation Department to provide the Citizens of Newport City, with a broad selection of recreational opportunities and leisure time activities. The Department strives to enhance the quality of life in local communities and to develop and maintain future programs and facilities as needed. Recreation is fun for all!

Registration for all programs are encouraged through the mail or online. Walk in registrations are accepted at the Rec. Dept. office. All programs are available to City of Newport residents at a discounted rate, and to residents of surrounding communities at a slightly higher fee.
