FOR THE SEASON- On Monday Oct. 8th the Parks &
Recreation Department will close these seasonal facilities until May 3,
2008. We thank you for your patronage of these facilities and hope
you’ll use them next season.

PASSES TO PROUTY BEACH
City of Newport
residents are admitted free to Prouty Beach by picking up a beach pass
at either the Newport Recreation Office or at Prouty Beach ticket booth.
This pass doesn’t include tennis or camping. All addresses will be
verified with Newport City Clerk’s Office for proof of residency.
Tennis Courts
$8.00 per hour
Paddle Boats and Canoes
$5.00 per hour $15.00 per four (4) hours
Picnic Shelter Rental:
Minimum cost is $65.00
and covers the first 32 people. There will be a charge of $2.00 per
person after the first 32 people. You can reserve the picnic shelter for
your family reunion or company picnic by calling Prouty Beach at
802-334-7951
PARK, BEACH & WATERFRONT WATCH
We have an ongoing program
requesting resident participation to monitor suspicious activities or person(s)
in our City Parks & Rec. facilities.
HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Report any problems requiring immediate action to the Newport Police Department
at 334-6733 daytime, weekdays or 911 anytime. Problems such as broken tables,
fences, equipment, vandalism, inappropriate usage of facilities, etc. should be
reported to the Newport Rec. Dept. at 334-6345.
NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS
City
ordinance states that your dog must be under your control on public property,
including City parks and beaches. Please cooperate. For sanitary reasons, you
must clean up after your dog immediately, place in a plastic bag and put in the
trash. Please keep our facility safe and clean.
SUMMER EMPLOYMENT
OPPORTUNITIES- City of Newport is now taking applications for
summer employment at the City Dock, Prouty Beach: maintenance workers,
lifeguards and swim instructors, Gardner Park: maintenance workers,
Public Works: maintenance workers. Application available at the
Recreation Department office, 2nd floor Municipal Building.
